Marsh Valley Rodeo & Parade, McCammon Idaho

We were invited to Eastern Idaho to the events in McCammon, Idaho. McCammon is a cute small town tucked away just 20 minutes outside of Pocatello. We had a wonderful time meeting people and enjoying the small hometown feeling. Thank you to the residents for making us feel so welcomed!  Greg and I stayed overnight just 12 minutes up the canyon in Lava Hot Springs where the hot springs are World renowned.  So beautiful if you ever have a chance to go it would be well worth the trip! Guaranteed!

On our way to the rodeo after the parade.
 The best part..the bucking broncos!
The rodeo Queen during the opening of the Star-Spangled Banner

The stick horse race..or in other words (water noodle) horse race!
The Rodeo begins!
The rodeo princesses and Rodeo Queen
Mrs. Idaho America drenched queen when a cloud rolled through and dumped rain for 45 minutes. We held out, however until the end of the rodeo for the bull riding.  So worth it!!
Still smiling after the rain came and went with my former pageant sister, Brandi Townsend
With some of the kids after the rodeo
Part of the parade was this van that had a donkey and a bull inside..no kidding!

Getting ready to mount my horse..the mustang for the parade. ;)
I wished that my driver had a little practice "reigning my mustang" as I was nearly bucked off the back several times with the stick shift.  Must have had  too much horsepower to handle! ;)

Ride-along with Meridian Police - JULY 1st 2012 (no texting and driving law)

Something I've always wanted to do is do a police ride-along.  Now was the perfect opportunity to do so and to question how the local police was going to help enforce the new law that took effect July 1st 2012 in Idaho that bans texting while driving.  I thought it was an excellent time to do so.  There are still a few grey areas on what they are able to do, but at least the public is aware that driving and texting combined do not mix.  Thanks to the Meridian Police Department and the nice officer for my escort.  We didn't catch anyone in the act of texting while driving, but made a couple pull overs and issued papers to a gentleman.
Office Erickson

Zach just found out he couldn't go on the ride along as you have to be 18 years old and have a background check....he didn't pass the background check. HA j/k Guess I passed!
Ready to head out for our tour of the city of Meridian!

When the cop is away...Mrs. Idaho will play!
Hopefully we don't have to bring out the big guns on our trip!
Hmm...wonder what THIS button does!?
He pulled her over for an expired registration, but let her off with a warning..nice guy!

Hopefully, this will be the ONLY time I get to see the back of a police car. It is NOT cozy in there!

Thanks for the ride Officer!

Idaho becomes 35th state to ban texting while driving!!

My platform has been raising awareness to texting and driving since November 2010 when Meridian became the 2nd city in Idaho to ban texting while driving.  I started a campaign called "DONT" meaning "Drive On No Texting" to educate parents and teenagers of the dangerous act while sharing real life stories through my facebook page.."just DONT" .   See this page for links to stories, websites and images.  It is my hope that families may drive safely wherever the road leads them without suffering tragedy as a couple of local families have suffered such a loss.
